1. people: 表示“人，人们”时，一种集合概念，复数名词。加上定冠词the 时，意为“人民”；表示“民族、种族”时，有复数形式。
例句1：I think it my duty to serve the people.

会议室里有多少人？

2. person：意为“人，个人”，指个体的人，常用于数量不太大且较为精确的场合。

分情况：
1、作“人、人们”讲时,总是以单数形式表示复数概念。
2、people作“民族”时,有单复数之分.a people 为“一个民族”,peoples为许多国家或地区的不同民族
“Person”与“People”：
Person强调的是个体，可以泛指man, woman或child中的任何一个，它的复数形式是Persons，只不过人们习惯用People代替persons；
People强调的是群体，所以当说一个人的时候，不用people，当表示两个以上的人的时候，就需要用 People了。
如:
Three people和Three persons这两种表达都可以使用，但我们要根据不同的情境使用。强调个人时，三个人就是Three persons；强调整体的时候，我们要说Three people。
